GATHERINGS

I love to host playful gatherings that span from movement to intellectual discussion.

Immersive Games + Theater

I am a theater kid with a Stage Manager brain. I love to throw experimental events with a dash of melodrama, clever game mechanics, and semi-satirical worldbuilding.

I do a few of these a year, on average. I’ll keep them mysterious for now, but here are a few sneak peaks:

Roughhousing

In 2024-25, I hosted roughhousing sessions once a month in the warmer seasons in NYC (we did play once in the snow). Inspired by movement philosophies Infinite Play, Fighting Monkey, and contact improv

When was the last time the ground met you?
Tumbleweed you, flung forward, caught in the arms of grassy wet.
To be treadmarked by life. Cut your nails, breath your feet, and come play.

Though it may sound like Fight Club, roughhousing is secretly in service of reviving the art of the playground. It requires a deep foundation in listening, attuning to the other. The sessions are most beautiful when you find yourself asking: what is the most enlivening way my body can play with anothers?

Chimeras Meet-ups

In 2024-25, I co-hosted an NYC meet-up group called the Chimeras with Kyle Barnes. Past emergent topics:

  • animism
  • social contracting with more-than-human world
  • disgust <> fascination cycle
  • mineralogy
  • true north
  • machines as earth
  • tender / technical
  • teaching outside the institution
  • trance states and mask possession
  • what are spatial, geographical, cultural chimeras?

Beetles: An Interspecies Gathering

A 70-person reflection on Beetles and their aesthetic, cultural, and scientific life. Hosted at Persona NYC and co-created with Kyle Barnes.

Collaboration with entomologists from the New York Natural History Museum & their private collections, Markus Herrman, and Justin Morris-Marano & Melody Stein of External Affairs.
